So the day after Halloween, BAM, Christmas everywhere! I’ve already spotted a few Christmas adverts on TV (if you haven’t seen Aldi’s Christmas advert, you need to check it out, it’s hilarious) which instantly makes it feel festive.
Over the past few years, I have been trying to make everything feel even more festive. I’m adamant on getting an advent calendar each year after refusing to have them in my teens as I thought I was “too old”. Now in my 20’s I simply need one (or maybe a few) each December, just to hold onto that festive feeling. Who’s with me?
I’ve rounded up some of the most stylish and modern advent calendars for Christmas 2018. Move aside boring chocolate advent calendars, say hello to alcohol, candles and more! These advent calendars will look great in your home and add to the festive look. Which is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below!
This is one advent calendar which will tick all the eco-friendly and sustainable boxes. The beautiful Christmas Calendar from Design Letters is modern, minimalist and looks so good. It has space 24 small gifts, one for each day in in the run-up to Christmas. The main question is, what will you fill the pockets with? I’m thinking chocolate throughout the week and come Friday, a little bottle of alcohol. This is a versatile advent calendar which can be used year after year. I love it!
A huge box full of little bottles of wine? Oh hello! This Wine Down to Christmas advent calendar is packed full of 24 bottles of wine ranging in size from 187ml to 200ml (about a glass of wine). So whether you choose to drink one each evening, or save them till the Christmas, it’s completely up to you. Inside is equal numbers of world-class Reds and Whites, a Rosé or two and prosecco. This is one of many alcohol advent calendars I fell in love with from The Letteroom. Will your December be filled with wine?
Christmas is definitely the time for candlelit evenings. Both Laura and I are pretty obsessed with candles, so no wonder this is our favourite time of year for candles! This Wax Lyrical Candle Advent Calendar from Haskins Garden Centres is definitely on my wish list. Featuring three festive fragrances, “Merry & Bright”, “Frosty Night” and “Festive Joy”, this is the perfect way to get a new candle each evening. Pop open the first door and you’ll find a tea light holder to hold your candles in. This is advent calendar also makes the perfect gift!
Love a glass of fizz? Fancy 24 little bottles over the Christmas period? You’re in for a treat! The Fizz Advent Calendar from First 4 Hampers lets you toast to the festive season every day in the run-up to Christmas. Opening each door reveals a 20cl mini bottle of sparkling wine including Prosecco, Cava and Sparkling Pinot Rose. Just wait for the extra special treat behind the 24th door, a 20cl bottle of Lanson Champagne. We’ll toast to that!
Searching for a Scandi minimalist style advent calendar? This one will tick all your boxes! The Albany Wooden Advent Wall Calendar from Lights4Fun is definitely one I’ll be buying as it just looks stunning. Mark each day with the included mini holly wreath. You can hang it on a wall or prop it up on a shelf. It will look stunning wherever you choose to place it!
This advent calendar is perfect for parents and is extremely unique. This forest themed advent calendar from Bobby Rabbit looks cute and so on-trend! It includes 24 individual pockets made from organic GOTS-certified cotton which you can hang up and fill with goodies. Once you’ve emptied the pockets, turn them inside out to make little hand puppet animals! This is so cute and something to be used year after year.
This intricate Wooden Light Up Advent Calendar from Sue Ryder is perfect for the festive season and definitely something to use year after year. The house-shaped calendar looks attractive in it’s minimalist white and grey colours. I love that the top of the house features battery-powered soft LED lights behind a winter scene. Great for giving a little twinkling light wherever you place it.
Don’t forget your furry friends this Christmas. They should also have an advent calendar and this one is beautiful! This advent calendar from The Letteroom can be refilled with your dog’s favourite treats year after year. You also have the option to order a little ceramic white bone decoration for the tree, which you can personalise with your dog’s name. How cute is that? It comes complete with baked biscuits made in the UK from natural ingredients.
This is the start of many festive posts coming up on In Two Homes. Both Laura and I can’t wait to share the latest Christmas decorations for 2018 and great gift lists. Check back next week for a new post!
